Statistical Analysis on Church Development and Health in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany (2005–2014)

  • Statistical Analysis on Church Development and Health in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany (2005–2014)

For the first time in the history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Arthur Daniells Institute of Mission Studies (ADIMIS) has conducted a comprehensive statistical analysis of church development in Germany.

Dr. László Szabó and Dirk Schomburg analysed anonymised membership records, data on member movement (baptisms, deaths, accessions, and losses), as well as demographic core data from the national church database, examining trends and changes over the past ten years.

The analysis provides valuable insights into areas where the church is well-positioned and where action is needed. It helps church leadership develop a clearer understanding of key issues such as demographics, congregational health, and membership dynamics. At the same time, it raises the important question of what measures should be taken today to avoid potential challenges in the future.

In addition, a scenario analysis was carried out to illustrate possible developments and offer a projection of the state of the Adventist Church in Germany ten years from 2015.

The results of the study have already been presented across all German union conferences and both regional divisions.
